RPPS Student Volunteers

This info is for Grade 5 & 6 RPPS students only

If your child would like to volunteer for Book Fair, please complete the online consent form by FRIDAY, OCTOBER 19th.
There are several different ways Grade 5 and 6 students can volunteer:

WITH YOU
Your children are always welcome to come volunteer with you at Book Fair.

BOOK FAIR SETUP & SORTING
Grade 5 and 6 students can volunteer during school breaks. Shifts will be offered twice daily, at recess, from Monday, October 22 to Thursday, November 1. We only allow a limited number of volunteers every day and we will not take requests for students to be paired up together. Students will also not be allowed to switch shifts with each other. We will confirm Book Fair Setup/Sorting shifts with your child and your child’s teacher via printed lists at the school.

A main list will be posted on the school door of the Big Gym listing the names of the volunteers at each shift. The teachers and office staff will also receive this list.

Students will be asked to go to the office prior to their shift to check in and receive their volunteer badge for the day. This allows the office staff to be informed should a child scheduled to volunteer during Book Fair NOT show up for a shift. Students whose names have not been posted on the list will not be allowed in the Big Gym during recess unless their parent/guardian is volunteering with them.

BOOK FAIR BABYSITTING
Sunday, October 21 is our JK/SK class sort. We are looking for several volunteers (Grade 6 only in this case) to help supervise the kids in the small gym while the kindergarten childrens’ parents are volunteering in the big gym. (We would also be interested in having high school volunteers to babysit if you have a child age 14+ at home.) We will confirm Book Fair babysitting shifts with you via e-mail.

BOOK FAIR WEEKEND
We have a limited number of shifts available for Grades 5 and 6 students to volunteer during Book Fair weekend (Nov. 2-4). Duties involved will be tidying up book sections, guarding doors, helping stock shelves and filling in wherever needed. All RPPS students will be listed as “general volunteers” and will be given specific assignments prior to their shifts. If your child is chosen to volunteer at 3pm on Friday, November 2 we will ask that they meet the volunteer coordinator in the school library who will give them their shift assignment and name badge. For all later shifts on Friday or the rest of Book Fair weekend, students will check in at the Information Desk in the main gym.
